Leyla lives with her two brothers in a pretty craftsman’s house in central San Gerardo – just a few meters from the village store, the church and the local watering hole! Her parents were among the original settlers in San Gerardo and the house is the oldest here, and has been beautifully maintained in the original style and the garden at all times of year is abundantly colorful. You could write a book about the pioneer stories Leyla has to share with visitors! Leyla enjoys traditional cooking and making crafts and is an active member of MUCACHI – the local women’s cooperative.
Says Francoise (visited March 2011) ‘All the meals were varied, healthy and delicious. I was made very welcome and enjoyed talking with members of Leyla’s family and friends.’
